What is the Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES)?
The Amateur Radio Emergency Service consists of licensed amateurs who have voluntarily registered their qualifications and equipment for communications duty in public service when disaster strikes. Every licensed amateur, regardless of membership in ARRL or any other local or national organization is eligible for membership in ARES.
R1D6 ARES is participating in the Colorado Volunteer Mobilizer program.
All R1D6 current and future members need to register at covolunteers.state.co.us.
Who We Are
R1D6 ARES is sponsored by the Jefferson County Department of Emergency Management and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. As such, it is the primary staffing and support organization for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Incident Management Team (IMT), Communications Unit. R1D6 provides primary incident communications support for public safety, first responders and auxiliary support to the Jefferson County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) as well as other public events. R1D6 has developed a program that is unmatched in the United States, blending the many capabilities of amateur radio with professional training certification and experience.
Our Mission
R1D6 ARES mission is to be the preeminent volunteer communications organization within the State of Colorado through continuous improvements to our relationships and expertise with Jefferson, Gilpin and Clear Creek Counties while expanding the depth and breadth of our service within the community.
Nets, Repeaters and Meetings
Weekly information nets are held the 1st, 2nd and 5th Tuesday of the month at 19:30 hours on the RMRL’s 146.940 MHz Mestaa'ėhehe (mess-taw-HAY) Mountain Repeater, with a PL of 103.5 Hz. The backup repeater, owned by DWARC, is on 147.210 MHz, +, PL 100.0 Hz., should the primary repeater be out of service.
The 3rd Tuesday of each month will be the face to face meetings. Some are in-person at the Jeffco EOC, and others will be on Zoom.
The 4th Tuesday of each month the net will be at 1930 hrs. on RMHAM DMR Central (720) talkgroup.
